Bettering Women from God's Word: Working Out & Eating Healthy with Ali Hill
Tuesday Aug 11, 2020
Tuesday Aug 11, 2020
Let's get our workout on with our very own personal trainer, Ali Hill! Ali has been in the fitness industry for more than a decade and this week on "Broadcast His Love" she shares 1 Corinthians 10:31 "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."
Ali tells us it's important to not try to be perfect or be the best at working out but instead to focus on being intentional about being active and eating healthy. She says she started working in the fitness industry by teaching Zumba classes. She said, "It was so fun, we would be so sweaty doing those dances. It was a really fun time."
Ali grew up in Ashville, North Carolina, and says her childhood home was pretty active. "We valued fitness, sports, and exercise daily. So I grew up doing that every day and seeing my parents exercise every day. I just really liked it (exercise).", said Hill.
However, fitness hasn't always been easy for Ali. She tells us she used to idolize how she wanted to look. "I think it really started to shift with I was pregnant with my twins. I couldn't work out." She said it was then that she needed to understand from God's word what her best self was supposed to look like. She shares the Philippians 3:20-21 which reads, "But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself."
Hill also shares with us what she has learned what she should be striving for and it's not what most people think. "It may not be the Instagram body that a lot of us picture. It is going to be a body that can move, that can walk, that can run, that can lift things without hurting themselves and run with our kids without getting out of breath and a body that feels good because we didn't eat a whole pizza." Don't you love Ali!? She knows from experience how hard it is to maintain a healthy body and she is working hard daily to be a great example of that. Thankfully we can follow her health journey and be encouraged by our sister in Christ!

Bettering Women from God's Word: Managing our Money with Angela Lane
Tuesday Aug 04, 2020
Tuesday Aug 04, 2020
Executive Mortgage Loan Originator at Southeast Mortgage and Pensacola Branch Manager, Angela Lane, tells us how we can be good stewards of our finances starting today.
She tells us the first thing to do in staying on top of our finances is to know Hebrews 12:11 which says "No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."
Angela is passionate about this subject and says managing our money is not easy, but if we make a budget and build an emergency fund, it will be beneficial in the long run.
One of the lessons Angela mentions from Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University is the importance of making a budget and following that budget so we will "live like no one else, so we can give like no one else." She says that some people don't like the thought of being constrained to a budget but actually having a budget is freeing so that your priorities are cared for and then you can do things like go on a date night and/or by a birthday gift.
She explains the importance of having self-discipline in following your budget so that you can give and pay for your expenses.
Angela is a loan officer and says from her experience that it's super important for people to have an emergency fund.
From Dave Ramsey's class, she knows that an emergency fund starts with putting aside at least $1,000 in case something comes up that needs to be paid for. She says in the class, the first thing Dave encourages is to put aside your emergency fund (as quickly as possible) for when something comes up that needs to be paid for. In this podcast, Angela gives some ideas to get an emergency fund raised.
We also talked about Publix's BOGO deals that you can find online. Here is a link to that: https://www.publix.com/savings/weekly-ad/bogo?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=PX23_09_031_09_0_T&utm_term=publix%20bogo%20now&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIg9vDpOnP6gIVyrzACh1AHw4ZEAAYASAAEgLCe_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
At the end of the podcast, I talk about a free download for a monthly budget plan. Here is the free download for that spreadsheet. Please print this off when you go over it with your spouse or if you are filling it out yourself: https://cdn.ramseysolutions.net/pdf/fpu/fpuonline/monthly_cash_flow_plan.pdf?_ga=2.144190837.1362513384.1570323025-1315366963.1570323025

Bettering Women from God's Word: True Beauty with Stephanie Hadwin
Tuesday Jul 28, 2020
Tuesday Jul 28, 2020
"Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." Proverbs 31:30
This week we are talking about TRUE BEAUTY! To me, there's no better person to talk about the beauty each one of us can have (besides Jesus lol) is Stephanie Hadwin. Stephanie has spent more than twenty years in the beauty industry and she has her own store in New Jersey.
At her shop called "Hadwin House," she makes her own candles and other goods to sell. She is a wife and mom to two boys. Her family helps her in her shop and she takes time to meet her customers and share God's word with them. In this episode, she tells us she has some Bibles for sale in her shop, and the other day she gave a woman a Bible who said she had never held a Bible! Wow! We love what God is doing through you, Stephanie! She is a true Proverbs 31 woman, right!? Totally a beautiful moment for sure!
Also, Stephanie did my hair as a little girl all the way to college and she did my hair and make up for my wedding! Stephanie is a trusted voice in my life for all things beauty. I pray God seeks you and finds you in this conversation and reminds you how beautiful God made you. I pray you remember that you are FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE. I pray this verse gets written on your heart and mind to KNOW Psalm 139:14 (ESV) which says "I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well."
I love this podcast because my girl Stephanie goes to God's word when she shares what true beauty is and y'all as she reveals in this podcast, true beauty is NOT what you think. She tells us that true beauty is defined in God's word.
We talk about what we have to work on to be beautiful inside and out which we can find in Philippians 4:8-9 (NLT) which says "And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you."
We talk about a lot of scripture in this podcast as it pertains to beauty. We even get into some controversial topics that people have twisted and made women look like they are not accepted and allowed to serve in the church. For that conversation, we talk about 1 Timothy 2:9.
Besides reading your Bible, I'd like to share this video from "The Bible Project" video that helps to explain 1 Timothy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RoqnGcEjcs
Here's the book Stephanie references that she recommends and has read, The Sassy Girl's Checklist for Living, Loving and Overcoming: https://www.amazon.com/Sassy-Checklist-Living-Loving-Overcoming/dp/0736918272

Bettering Women from God's Word: Mental Health with Rebecca Yasunaga
Tuesday Jul 21, 2020
Tuesday Jul 21, 2020
We're doing something new this week! Over the next few weeks, we will be focusing on "Bettering Women from God's Word." Every Tuesday, we will talk to some of my friends who are experts in their field about what God has shown them through His Word. We will talk about finances, mental health, physical health, and true beauty.
Our first guest in "Bettering Women from God's Word" is psychologist, Rebecca Yasunaga. She talks about our mental health. Rebecca tells us it's important to know feelings of stress and worry are valid, but it's how we move forward from those emotions that matter.
In this podcast, she breaks down somethings you can do today to get out of your head with toxic thoughts and move into the purpose God has for you.
The "homework" she gives us is just that... work we can do at home, today.
I pray if you have any feelings of stress and worry to pray about it, let God know what's going on in your mind, I pray you tell a trusted friend about it and if needed (totally fine if you do) contact a mental health expert, like Rebecca.
We are not meant to do this life alone! "The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Genesis 2:18 (NIV)
The scripture Rebecca shares in this podcast that is helping her is -- "He says, 'Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.'" Psalm 46:10 (NIV)
Love yall! Have a great week! Life is not meant to be lived alone! If you can't see people physically because of quarantine, pick up the phone, and (like Kenny Chesney says) "Call your mom!" Kidding but seriously... Call someone who you trust and tell them what's going on. It'll be awesome!

She is Grateful with Peggy Butler
Tuesday Jul 14, 2020
Tuesday Jul 14, 2020
It's my pleasure to introduce you to Pensacola real estate agent, Peggy Butler. She's originally from Nashville, Tennessee but now calls Pensacola, Florida home. In this podcast, Peggy tells us it was her dream as a child to live in Pensacola and marry a man in the music industry.
She thanks God that her dreams came true! She ended up marrying Larry Butler who was a legendary producer in the music industry. He worked with many artists including but not limited to Johnny Cash, Mac Davis, Conway Twitty, Dolly Parton, and more. In Larry's book called "Just for the Record" Kenny Rogers (who wrote the Foreward in the book) credits his success to Larry. What a sweet and beautiful thing to write from a fellow music industry legend! Larry's stories in the music industry are one for the record books... That's for sure! I am reading his book now and some of the things he experienced seem out of this world. Larry seemed to have lived a fun life full of adventure.
In this conversation, Peggy talks about some of her encounters with the musicians her late husband Larry worked with, and your jaw will drop at the names she mentions. Peggy has lived on the front lines of country music. Thank you Peggy for sharing those stories!
Peggy also shares Luke 6:31 as her favorite verse: "Do to others as you would have them do to you." - Luke 6:31 (NIV)
Y'all please give it up for my dear friend Peggy as she shares her story on "Broadcast His Love!" Feel free to share it with your friends and please leave us a review on iTunes!

How Looking in a Mirror Impacts Our Soul with Ashley Hartwell
Tuesday Jul 07, 2020
Tuesday Jul 07, 2020
Ashley Hartwell is a mom of five who has served our nation in the U.S. Army and she is a registered nurse. You can tell when she talks, but Ashley is one of those women who want to set the world on fire for Jesus and it's awesome!
In this episode, she is not afraid to share her story. She is bold in talking about her past of rape, infidelity, and her former issues with trust.
Ashley's story is a reminder of why this podcast is an honor and a privilege to be involved in.
In God's word, David writes in Psalm 66:16 “Come and listen, all you who fear God, and I will tell you what he did for me.”
David wanted to tell everyone what God had done for him, through his testimony and what he had been through. Ashley's story is a reminder that our God is a forgiving God and a loving God.
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." 1 John 4:7-8
The scripture Ashley shares that she says is helping her through this season is Philippians 2:3-4 (NIV) and it says 3 "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."
Also, I wanted to reference one of the scriptures we talk about. It's James 1:23-25 "Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it-not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do."
Love y'all and thanks for taking the time to hear my friend Ashley's story!

Tuesday Jun 30, 2020
First. I need to say that we don’t start talking about the meat of this episode until it’s brought up in conversation at around 15 minutes. So if you’re here to hear how to help the community that Krista and her family are in, please fast forward to about 15 minutes into this conversation to hear what’s going on around them. In the beginning, we do a lot of catching up. My husband and I met Krista and her family a couple of years ago while visiting Haiti Bible Mission in Jeremie, Haiti. HBM is an organization we love and support!! ❤️
Krista Parada Germeil, her husband Mark, and their two children live in Jeremie, Haiti. Mark is from Haiti and Krista moved there about 8 years ago. She is from Virginia. Recently, the couple celebrated their 6th wedding anniversary.
At the same time, they're celebrating another year of marriage, they’re also experiencing a massive need around them. According to Krista and her team, people in their community are going multiple days without food because they are in a 5-month drought and the prices of food have gone up. Instead of locals being able to eat beans (which is what they would be growing, harvesting, and eating), they’re only eating things like spaghetti (noodles) and white rice. She says people in their community on average make about $5 a week and a can of beans in American dollars is about $1. In the podcast, she talks about one of her team members who says he knows of several families who are going a couple of days without food, due to the drought, and the price of food has gone up.
Right now, Krista says that she and her family are providing food packs for families with beans, which are a big deal to the people around them. She says there is also a church helping them out by matching $1,500 to go to food packs. She wrote in an email after recording the podcast that -- “We are actually in the midst of a $1,500 matching grant being raised for food packs. We have $1,000 raised and are $500 away from reaching our goal!"
Krista says they're requesting money for food packs through Jeremie Christian Mission — under the category of food outreach. She says one food pack is $30. She tells us in the food packs are a 50-pound bag of rice, 11 cups of beans, 29 packs of spaghetti, and a gallon of oil.

On this podcast, giving a voice to the voiceless is a BIG DEAL and a massive priority. Proverbs 31:8-9 (MSG) says “Speak up for the people who have no voice, for the rights of all the down-and-outers. Speak out for justice! Stand up for the poor and destitute!” That's one of my prayers for this podcast overall and this episode.
The verse Krista shares that's helping her get through this season is Ephesians 2:4-19 (NIV):
4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
THANK YOU for listening and sharing!

Do Not Worry About Your Future with Nicole Jones
Tuesday Jun 23, 2020
Tuesday Jun 23, 2020
Nicole Jones is a lifestyle reporter and newscast director at WLTZ First News in Columbus, GA. She tells us she got her degree in art but God moved her to work communications when she least expected it. She has three children and is a single mother. She believes in working hard and leading by example to her kiddos... One of which is about to graduate high school! Nicole is one of those people you meet who treats you better than you should be treated because she has Jesus in her heart. I loved working with her at WLTZ. We faced a lot of breaking news together and it's an honor to have her share her story on this podcast.
In sharing her story she talks about Matthew 6:25-34 and how God used that scripture to change her heart and mind.
Do Not Worry
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
